MADE has been developing a way to tackle the obstacles that unemployed graduates in the built environment subjects face.
MADE GRADs is a self-managing group that helps graduates launch their careers by taking on projects for the community, entering competitions and running events like CV and interview workshops. MADE GRADs have recently completed an exciting project designing family housing for Birmingham’s Jewellery Quarter as part of CABEs Design Your Own Neighbourhood Programme
MADEGrads meet every Wednesday in a local architects practice, they are self managing, supporting and have a facebook page to recruit new members, where needed their work is supported by architecture tutors for example Kevin Singh, Head of the School of Architecture at BCU, and other design professionals.
The composition of the group varies as members find work, many of then citing their involvement in the group as being a way to help them find work, discover opportunities make connections with practices, meet other graduates in the same situation and keep their skills current and give them an advantage as having worked on real life projects when applying for roles.
